Quote:
BOSTON (WBZ) ― A 24-year-old Quincy man hasn'tbeen seen since attending Thursday night's Bruins game at the Garden with some friends.

William Hurley left the game after the first period, and called his fiancée, Claire Mahoney, because he needed a ride home. According to Boston Police, Hurley told his fiancée the battery was running low on his cell phone, and that he was waiting in a parking lot at 99 Nashua Street.

When she arrived, he was nowhere to be found.

Officers were informed that he also failed to show up to work the following day at the Weston Country Club where he works as a greens keeper.

His fiancée told police that Hurley has no history of disappearing and that he's in good physical and mental condition.

Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 617-343-4248.

I put on the news earlier and this was on, it was sad to see his GF talking. Posting this cause I know a few of you were at the game. Maybe you sat near him? Kind of sketchy he left in the first period, especially since he was with friends. Nashua Street is right near the Garden too.

That is a little scary. I could understand someone going missing after that game was over but not in the 1st period.

Sounds like he could've been up to shenanigans, that area isn't a dangerous part of town, decent police coverage and it was earlier in the night. I think there is more to the story that will come out.

Lets just hope he is still at the strip club and not in a ditch somewhere.

Southie, Dorchester & Roxbury. There are probably other bad areas in neighborhoods, but those are the three to stear clear of. And I'm not saying those entire neighborhoods are bad but they're like The Bronx, Brooklyn, or South Side of Chicago, etc... The way Boston is set up it's pretty hard to accidentally wonder into those places too.

The Garden is in a very busy, well lit, safe part of town, as is Fenway. I'm actually surprised it happened especially to a grown man. There are TONS of people always within hear shot, not to mention a main street and a highway.

If this happened in a secluded neighborhood, maybe even deeper in the North End, yeah maybe. But like I said I think there is more to the story.

It is scary thinking about what could of happened to him. In a area we always are around. I always feel safe in the general Garden area, Fenway too and most of the public spots in Boston. Except the time I parked in this ghetto parking garage near Fenway lol. This will make me think twice when I'm there. But yeah Tommy there must be more to this. They updated it a little on the wbz site. http://wbztv.com/local/william.hurley.missing.2.1241153.html

The people he was with at the game should be questioned more. The friends probably have nothing to do with it but you never know.

He couldn't of been that confused wtf. And he had three or four beers in one period? I don't believe that. That amount in such little time would probably mess him up if he did though.

Southie? Did Whitey Bulger come back? Yeah, its not exactly the safest spot come late night but I'll take it over Blue Hill Ave., Roxbury, Mattapan, Mission Hill. Roxbury gets real hot in the summer.

I know Southie isn't as dangerous as it used to be but outsiders walking around Southie usually doesn't turn out well.

This is still weird. They been searching a lot, found a few "things of interest" they say. But it is nothing to major. They been checking the charles river behind nashua street.

There are sooo many people around that area at any given time. This makes nooo sense. It is very possible to drink what the garden calls 4 beers. They are really small. Hope this gets resolved soon.

I saw this story on the news last night. The thing is what really strikes me odd a 24 year old male, in a well lit area, with tons of people, safe part of town, police detailing, earlier in the night isn't really a target for predators/random street violence/muggers.

Other things that strike me odd someone leaving without explanation during the first period to go somewhere alone & phone is conveniently out of battery, and no one really knows why he left. That's why I'm saying maybe shenanigans is going on here.

It maybe not be fair to say because we don't know the guy (but a few years of majoring in Criminal Justice will cause you to think like this) but I'm guessing the most likely possibilities for his age, that part of town, that time of night is either A) he left to meet up with another group and something happened B) Left to try to get drugs, something may have went wrong C) left for who knows why and got into a fight with the wrong person D) guy left for a new life somewhere E) One of his friends did him in

I don't really think it's D or E.

Think about it, if you were with a couple of friends how weird is that that none of them have any clue what happened to him? Or where he went for that matter? If I was at a game with a friend and they just got up and left, I'd at least ask him where he was going, or after 10 mins or so I'd call his cell to see what he's up to. Oh yeah but his phone was dead...

Another thing put yourself in his situation, you're waiting outside the Garden that time of night, how hard would it be to find trouble? I mean unless he was a Caps fan mouthing off to everyone that walked by... But still...

And if it was random violence and they dumped him into the river, don't you think they've found him the next morning? That part of water is pretty visible in a main section of Boston - it's been over a week now, if something happened it probably didn't happen around the Garden.

I'm really interested to find out the next part of information.

Yeah, like it was noted before Southie has become safer than a while ago, but if you open the Herald or the Globe 90% of the violent stories happen in Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, etc...

Every major city has dangerous areas, I wouldn't say Boston has a problem per say, it's pretty segregated (unlike LA where you could have a gang territory pop up on you out of no where) IMO you kind of got to go out of your way to stumble upon areas like that - not to mention that they're mostly lumped together - not many points of interest in them so there isn't really a reason to go to them, unless you live there.

They're pretty closed to Brooklyn or The Bronx IMO, just not as notorious. They all have their safe areas and dangerous areas but that's where most of the crime happens not in Boston, like most street crime doesn't happen in Manhattan.

But this story happened by the Garden, which is by like Government Center and the North End, and stone throw away from Downtown Crossing, the Financial District and the Common. This area would probably have the greatest police presence and probably the most populated at that time.
