Yeah, when I started working at Amazon I worked every Sunday during the 2007 season, so I pretty much missed every non night game. And the NFL hype machine is so big and powerful here, at first I felt like I was missing out on tons of important games and moments but the more I missed the more I realized I don't really care about any team except the Pats. But it's the way they market the NFL that makes me not want to watch, like the fact I'm heard last week, and the week before 'Saturday Night is Football Night in America' I mean really? You can't come up with anything better than ripping off CBC - not only that but most of the people in the country don't know of HNIC so they'll probably think the opposite which will annoy me.
And I find peoples reactions to me not caring about football makes me like it less. Like I said at work I didn't watch the SuperBowl last year, you've thought it killed someone. Plus when people find out I don't really care about the NFL as a whole, they feel the need to take pot shots at the NHL - which makes me not want to watch even more.
But yeah.. idk... It's too slow and too many commercials for me personally. I didn't grow up watching football or playing, so I don't really care for the strategy aspect - whereas baseball I did, even though I know it's the slowest sport I see it like a chess match. Now that I've somehow made it out of the hype machine I'm planning on staying out.
